Curves in Cowboy Country

We had a wonderful weekend in Calgary with two sold-out 1-day script lettering workshops! They were held at the ever-so-funky Fluevog store on 8th Avenue in the downtown core; we were upstairs in the ‘Flueseum’ – a combo exhibition space of Fluevogs and cafe/lounge space. A perfect spot for working with lettering ideas (and a great place to take breaks and try on shoes).

The Type Camp goal for the workshops are simple: to help people discover that they can actually do this and that they shouldn’t waste a minute of time being fearful of it. A bit of time and a bit of knowledge about the process are required, that’s all! The results can be as unique as the maker is.

We were lucky enough to have FairGoods give us an assortment of the great typographic notecard packs (our favourites were these). Thanks to Xerxes and Shauna for making that happen! I can’t wait to send out ‘awkward news’ . . . .

I totally forgot to get a group shot of the Saturday folks (so very sorry!) but I did get one of the Sasges Design group on Friday:

We absolutely enjoyed ourselves so much that we can’t wait to head out there again.

We hope to see you soon, Calgary!
