Details

Due to requests for another Copperplate lettering Type Camp, from attendees from the last one, we’re bringing Xandra back to Vancouver for more pointed pen! This class will help you explore Copperplate lettering with the pointed pen. We’ll dip it into our favourite walnut ink and experiment with flourished forms known from the 1800’s, often referred to as ‘copperplate’ lettering.

We will help you understand all the possibilities with this tool, understand the italic letterform structure, and even experiment with additional ornamental add-ons. With both expertise and a giggle or two, Xandra will even share some of her inky secrets in how she uses her dip pens to create fluid and flourished forms; while Shelley (and her southern accent) will encourage and assist you in moving past your fears and achieving the best hand lettering possible.

If you attended the first one, you are still welcome to attend. Xandra will have extra projects for you, including flourishing, bouncing, and multi-line composition, to take your lettering even further.

Type Camp promises that by the end of the day, you’ll understand the fundamentals and structure of the copperplate lettering style, the ins and outs of lettering with a traditional dip pen, and much, much more.

Never done this before? No problem.
All experience levels are welcome at this camp.
Camp begins at 10am and continues to 5pm, with a one hour lunch break at 1pm.
