Details

This Type Camp at the Adobe San Francisco HQ will help you explore hand lettering with the parallel pen. We’ll fill it with our favourite ‘Walnut Ink’ and experiment with both Blackletter and Neuland letterforms.
We will help you understand all the possibilities with this tool, understand letterform structure with two different historical forms, and even experiment with additional ornamental add-ons. With both expertise and a giggle or two, Xandra will even share some of her inky secrets in how she uses the parallel pen to create her masterful lettering compositions; while Shelley (and her southern accent) will encourage and assist you in moving past your fears and achieving the best hand lettering possible.
Never done this before? No problem.
All experience levels are welcome at this camp.

Type Camp promises that by the end of the day, you’ll understand the fundamentals and structure of the two distinct and historic lettering styles Neuland and Blackletter, the importance of positive and negative spacing, and much, much more, all of which are achievable with a parallel pen.

Camp begins at 10am and continues to 5pm, with a one hour lunch break at 1pm.

Thanks to the folks at Adobe Typekit for helping to make this happen!
