I titled this ‘unexpected’ because this camp wasn’t originally planned in our Type Camp Canada Pointed Pen Tour 2014. The Seattle camp didn’t fill (Yo! What’s up with that, Seattle?) and so Tania Wolk, Co-principal of Go Giraffe Go, offered her charming town of Regina. I first met, and instantly adored, Tania earlier this year at Type Camp India. India and Regina, not much different, eh? (!)
Guess what? We loved Regina! The town was charming, the local sponsor Paper Umbrella was a fantastic store that provided some of our supplies (we certainly did not leave there empty handed!), and our location at the Queen City Hub was absolutely perfect. If you are in Regina, you really should use their space for classes. Perfectly located and a warm, sunny space. Perfect for our workshop.
The mix of folks was excellent, from beginning to experienced calligraphers and book binders, to graphic designers and even 2 brilliant youth workers. Everyone had something to work on and we certainly learned how to celebrate our successes and move on from ugly wonky letters!
Everyone agreed that they wanted more, so we’ll be back in the spring, we promise! We’ve got some ideas about other hand lettering classes, certainly a 2-day event, so we’ll look to fall in love with Regina even more (especially if it snows again!).
